Gran Paradiso – Community Emergency Response Team (GP-CERT)

The GP-CERT was established in January of 2019 to assist our community in the aftermath of any major disaster, such as a hurricane. While it is not a requirement, those GP-CERT volunteers who wish to do so may undertake training to provide damage assessment, access control, light search and rescue, and first aid procedures to our community following any major disaster.

The purpose of this website is to be a resource for the Gran Paradiso community about disaster preparedness and what to do in the aftermath of a disaster. In addition, we will attempt to explain the role of GP- CERT and how you can become involved as a volunteer.

What is CERT?

CERT is a FEMA-based program that offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, which allows them to focus on more complex tasks. Through CERT, the capabilities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters is built and enhanced at the community level. The GP-CERT training and preparation will allow community members to respond and assist each other by providing damage assessment, search and rescue, access control, first aid, and communication with first responders in those hours between the incident and the return of our property management staff.
